The Soundtracks of Perpetual Mercy School
Then & Now
While snooping through a box of her mother’s items, Ari Worthington stumbled upon an old cassette tape titled “PMS Class of 1986 Summer Mix.” Curious about the type of music her mother listened to when she was a student at Perpetual Mercy School for Young Women, and desperate to know more about the 18-year-old version of Grace Churchill, Ari scoured the other boxes and discovered a stereo player (what the Gen-Xers call a boombox). Popping the tape into the stereo, Ari sat down and pressed play. As the first upbeat notes started to play, Ari closed her eyes and pictured her mother as a newly graduated teen with her whole life ahead of her, and smiled. The tape—the music—was a time capsule of her mother.
Ari grabbed her cellphone, clicked an app, and quickly created her own playlist. She named the list of songs: PMS Girls Saga Summer Vibes 2025.
Ari has decided to share both playlists with you. Flip the images below to read the playlists, and when you’re ready, click the Spotify playlists below the flip cards and listen to Grace Churchill’s 1986 Summer Mix or Ari’s Summer Vibes 2025… or better yet, BOTH.
