It’s a beautiful summer day and the perfect time to launch Lisa’s Twisted Quill, my small corner of the internet where the beach breeze mixes with bookish obsession, and a writer’s life that often takes unexpected twists.
If we’ve met before, you already know that I have a laidback, fun-loving attitude when it comes to life—whether I’m writing novels, blogging, or walking along the shore with my rescue dog. If we haven’t met yet, welcome! I’m so glad that you found your way here.
I’m Lisa Alfano—author, illustrator, mom (to two humans and one oversized furball), beach lover, and crafter of stories with suspenseful plots, magical worlds, and flawed characters that you won’t easily forget. This blog is where I share not only my books, but the things that inspire me both in my writing and in life, along with a few fun twists and turns along the way.

I believe that creatives—authors, artists, thespians, or musicians—are marvelously eclectic. We gather a bit of this and a bit of that from life and weave them into something new. As the stereotypical Aquarius through and through, I enjoy scoring extra points on the creative chaos meter. Here’s a snippet of what I have planned for this blog:
- Behind-the-scenes glimpses into my writing life- from putting pen to paper (literally, as I write my first drafts the old-school way) and creating messy first drafts, to how a plot twist came into existence, and the highs and lows of author life.
- Bookish recommendations- for fellow readers who love thrillers, dark fantasy, and emotionally layered fiction, plus shoutouts to fellow indie authors you should get to know.
- Short stories and twisted tales- original fiction wrestled from the recesses of my imagination. Some are related to my novels, and others are brand-new worlds for you to explore.
- Creative inspiration—from journaling and illustration, to my cozy rituals for the various seasons, my favorite writing tools, and pretty notebooks and bookmarks which spark joy.
- Coastal reflections- the ocean is my happy place, as the waves always have something to say, such as a new, unexpected plot twist for my work in progress drifting by on the salty ocean breeze. So you’ll find musings from life by the ocean.
- Dog cameos (of course)- because writing is far better with a furry muse by your side.
- A bit of this and that- If I discover something fun, creative, and wicked cool, I’m going to share it with you. And yes, from time to time, my Gen-X slang will also slip into Lisa’s Twisted Quill.
